Merry Christmas from not my family

I say they are not my family, but really I just mean not my household.  The Hills are my son's fathers parents and have over time become my Texas family.  I love these people and they treat me like one of there own.  I sometimes don't know what I would do with out the friendship and love I have received from them over the years.

Every year Cambrian's grandparents take him with the family to get his pictures made and this year Cambrian's Great Grandparents were here for the fun. I our house we are really bad about getting family pictures regularly but this way I still get yearly pictures of my son and I get out of having to have any taken of me (they used to make me go before I got married :))!!  I love how they turned out this year and I love that truck, what a great color. What a beautiful family I have.

Rachel (Cambrian's Aunt) has been his best friend since he was 3 and she was 11.    Now 9 and 17 they are still play Lego's together and watch Phineas and Ferb.  They are two pea's in a pod and I pray best friends forever.

Meet Jolly

Jolly is our Elf on the Shelf.  He has come to stay with us this holiday season to keep Cam "in line" and bring fun new tradition to our family this Christmas.

So this Jolly, like some of the other elf's I have seen, is a pretty funny guy.  So far he has hung upside down in the "Branch" tree, held baby Jesus in the Nativity, swung from an ornament hanging in the hall and TP'ed our Christmas Tree's.

By far the biggest event has been Cambrian touching Jolly.  The Elf on the Shelf book says that children can not touch him, or else his magic to fly to Santa every night will disappear.  Not sure if Cam was testing his theory or did it by accident, but he let me know and I assured him Jolly would be fine as long as he did not pick him up.  Boy was I wrong.  Jolly did not move that night and I awoke to Cambrian crying on the floor under Jolly's spot from the night before.  I felt horrible, and tried my best to comfort my son, who thought he had killed his elf.  When I got home from school that night Cambrian led me to the coffee table and showed me the note he wrote to Santa.

Dear Santa,
I'm sorry to bother you but my elf Jolly has apparently not been coming to see you lately.  I was wondering if you could come fix him.
P.S. If you do, here's some milk & cookies, Thank you bye!
Sincerely Cam

Well, thankfully Santa came to fix Jolly and had a little midnight snack.   I am full of relief that Santa is such a great guy and that he came to save the day.  All is happy again in our home and Jolly is free to make mischief again.

Friends and Field Trips

Today I got to go with Cam on his field trip to the Log Cabin Village in Fort Worth.  It was awesome. I have always wanted to go and have not had the chance in the 8 years we have lived here.

As we walked around with our group I got to see just how adored my kids is.  At his last school he was bullied  by some of the kids in his class and the field trip we went on his last year there, he had quite a few times of being excluded and having his feeling hurt. Not any more.  The kids flocked to him.  They called out his name when he walked by, and we were surrounded by boys for lunch.  It is nice to see that your child is well liked, by his peers as well as his teachers, 2 out of 3 pulled me aside with nice things to say about how much they like him and what a nice kid he is.

The Log Cabin Village had all the working of a Pioneer Town, Homes, a blacksmiths, a woodshop, a school, a garden, a shop and a mill.  The kids loved it and I even learned and saw a few new things.

Cam was super impressed with the Wood Workers stories with his wooden men, he was pretty funny. We even got a good picture of the two of us.  That never happens.

So thankful that I got to go with him today.  He has been making me unbelievable proud lately.  I am one lucky mom.

Smarty Pants

Ever since Cambrian was in Kindergarten his teacher have raved about what a bright child he is. All of his teachers have suggested that we have him tested for the advanced academics program at his school once he was of age.  We have always felt that he should be in it too, the kid gets 100 on everything and is in trouble non-stop for talking, usually because he is bored.  The last two years Cambrian did not meet the required criteria, per the test, even at his teachers protest.  Not anymore!!!

Our little Genius is now finally and officially in the "Smart Club".

We are all shouting for joy in our house and maybe treating our guy to some ice cream to celebrate!!!
